Dr. Rokonuzzaman (Rokon Zaman) has been the editor of The WAVES. He has been researching the technology Innovation-led transformation of society over more than two decades. His writing focuses on detecting patterns underlying technology innovation dynamics and providing analytical interpretations of the evolution of products, processes, start-ups, firms, industry, and society as a whole, particularly showing the roles of public policy, technology progression, customer preferences, decision making challenges, and competition. He has been sharing his findings through a series of op-eds. So far he has shared 260 + of them through three major English print media outlets. He graduated from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada with Masters and Ph.D in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Robotics and Intelligent Systems. He is Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at North South University. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Policy Research Institute in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Recently, he authored a chapter of the perspective plan and background paper for the long and medium-term planning of Bangladesh, and a thematic paper for UNDP for leveraging frontier technologies driving digital economy and Fourth Industrial Revolution for accelerating economic growth, creating high-paying jobs and attaining sustainable development goals. He has provided thematic inputs for harnessing technology innovation potential for development to ADB, World Bank, SME Foundation, and ICT Ministry of Bangladesh, among others. He has published more than 50 academic articles, three book chapters, a book, and numerous advisory reports. He also advised European and Canadian Space Agencies for the assessment of tele and space robotics, human-machine collaboration in augmented reality environment, and satellite-based Synthetic Aperture Radar Imaging technology and finding their innovative applications for improving the competitiveness of the Natural Resource Sector of Canada. In partnership with The Asia Foundation, he also provided research inputs and pursued an advocacy campaign for strengthening competition and regulatory framework in the telecom sector of Bangladesh. He has shared more than 2000 micro commentaries on evolving technology innovation dynamics through a Facebook Group: TIPViews. His professional research career started in a Canadian Research Corporation in St.John’s, just right after his graduate studies. He began his academic career as a lecturer at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, in Bangladesh.
His ongoing research focuses on detecting patterns underlying technology innovation dynamics for minimizing uncertainties, designing optimum policy responses, and developing an optimum ecosystem so that market, system, and directional failures are adequately addressed for opening the endless frontier of growth out of science, technology, and innovation for ensuring inclusive, equitable, and sustainable growth all across the world, with particular focus on developing countries like Bangladesh. He lives in Dhaka, Bangladesh with his only daughter and wife.

Jim McLaughlin is a director of technology & innovation at a major aircraft company. Jim is also a community leader, having served in a wide range of volunteer and public policy roles including sport program director, school board vice president, and candidate for state representative. He currently mentors businesses in underserved communities and manages the internet communications for Energy Justice Network.
